Index to the ftp: File Archive
This archive consists mainly of BASELINE reports and material, as well as the ELPUB 105 report. Everything is accessible to the public via ftp from ftp.ucc.ie/hfrg/baseline
If you are unable to access the file archive via your Web browser, it is always possible to use a separate FTP program. A sample session for a standard commandline FTP is given below:

ELPUB 105 Usability Study - Handbook for practical usability engineering in Information Engineering projects. elp105.zip
This study reviews the practical means by which quality of use of electronic information applications can be incorporated into the entire development process of Information Engineering projects. It identifies available evaluation methods, techniques, tools and metrics which can be applied for user validation in Information Engineering.
This form guides you through the most important decision points for user-based validation of your electronic applications. It has been iteratively designed and validated in the context of real application projects. It is intended to be used at the start of a project as a planning aid, and then subsequently during the course of the project to assist with documenting and reviewing your user-based activities.
Usability Validation Plan outline as a WORD 6 document and as an RTF document
Usability Validation Report outline as a WORD 6 document and as an RTF document
In response to questions for advice on how to present a user validation plan and a user validation report we have made these two documents available. The User Validation Report outline has a long background of testing and validation in EC projects as well as industrial practice.
These spreadsheets allow you to do a more fine-grained analysis of the context in which you expect your application will be used, and therefore of the context in which it should be tested. We have also found these sheets to be useful as a planning aid in Requirements Specification as they go through many basic issues that should be covered at Requirements stage (but sometimes are omitted, which causes problems further down the line!)
